As a child my friends has crushes on Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Nick Carter and the cute one from Hanson. Myself? John Travolta as Danny Zuko. Looking back I cringe a bit considering the Scientology, toupee wearing Travolta of today, but you gotta admit, he was pretty damn sexy in Grease.
Grease! A movie you either love or hate. I'm a proud member of the LOVE group. As a child of the 90's, I was in awe of the pretty circle skirts, petticoats and cool cars. The T birds seemed like bad asses and the Pink ladies were just so cool. My mum tells a story of my cousin as a wee young thing doing the moves to 'Greased Lightning' on my aunties couch pretending it was the aforementioned car. How glorious! At intermediate I stole the song book from the music department. I even have 'beauty school drop out' tattooed on my leg, partly because of my love of the film - but also because I dropped out of hairdressing not once, but twice haha. Real life Beauty school drop out right here!
Why all the reminiscing about a movie made 11 years before I was born? well Australian brooch gods Erstwilder recently released their Grease collection. I was pretty damn excited, I set an alarm on my phone (okay, I set it a week early but that's how hyped I was) I ended up buying the 'Beauty school drop out' and 'Go Rydell' brooches. I am in love, I think they are so damn pretty. I love the iridescent pearl resin on both brooches. They are definitely my favourites of the collection. I purchased from New Zealand store 19 Black - go check them out - I've heard they might still be stocking the elusive Frenchy brooch ;)
Other pieces I'm in love with are the 'Rydell forever' and 'T birds' brooches. No doubt I will eventually pick up all the pieces as I have an Erstwilder addiction.
